Introduction of Professor REN Yunchang

REN Yunchang, male, was born in 1971 at Wanzhou District, Chongqing. He is a professor at the School of Literature and Media, Chongqing University of Education, and now serves as the Head of the Teaching and Research Section for Primary Education. In Dec. 2007, he obtained a Master of Education degree at Southwest University; in Nov. 2009, he was promoted to a professorship ahead of time as an exception. He is a young and middle-aged backbone teacher of Chongqing. His major social concurrent posts include: Deputy Secretary General of the Education Evaluation Institute of the Chongqing Education Society, Deputy Director of the Psychology of Chinese Language Learning Research Institute, Chongqing University of Education, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Institute of Primary Education Development in Rural Areas, teaching expert under the “National Teacher Training Program” of the Ministry of Education, etc.

Professor Ren has long been engaged in the research and teaching regarding Chinese language education, rural education and teacher education. Relying on relevant achievements, he has been awarded prizes more than 30 times by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication, Chongqing Research Academy of Education Sciences, Chongqing University of Education, etc., and once won the title of the “All-round Champion” of the Basic Skill Contest of Class Advisers in Chongqing Primary and Secondary Schools, and the first “Honorary Award” of Chongqing University of Education. His scientific achievements have been submitted to the highest central organs by the State Council Research Office and Xinhua Internal Reference, and adopted by relevant municipal departments for three times.

Professor Ren presided over one Key Teaching Reform Project of Chongqing Higher Education and one Fine Course Construction Project, and researched 6 college teaching quality projects as a core member. Such projects include the Key teaching Reform Project of Chongqing Higher Education – “Construction of Rural Educational Theories and Practice Curriculum System”. He published over 30 academic papers in such publications as Journal of the Chinese Society of Education, China Education Daily (Theory Edition) and China’s Education: Research & Review, and 2 of his Chinese language education papers were reprinted in full text by Teaching and Learning of Subjects in Primary Schools (Duplicated Materials of RUC). Moreover, he independently wrote and edited nearly 20 education books. His masterpiece The Hope of Empty Nest Villages: Sociological Research on the Education Issue of Left-behind Children in West China won the First Prize for the Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences issued by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government.

Professor REN mainly presided over the following scientific research projects: the National Social Science Foundation Project – “Sociological Research on the Education Issue of Left-behind Children in West China”; the National Social Science Foundation Project – “Policy Research on Left-behind Children in Rural Areas”; and the Key Soft Science Project of Chongqing – “Policy Research on Left-behind Children in Chongqing”. As a core member, he mainly researched the following projects: the National Social Science Foundation Project – “Strategic Research on the Coordinated Development between the ‘Solving of Two Basic Problems’ and the Cultural Construction in Western Rural Areas”; the National Social Science Foundation Project – “Research on the Fair Development of Primary Education in Western Urban and Rural Areas from a Sociological Perspective”, etc.
