Introduction of Professor LIN Jian

LIN Jian, male, was born in 1951 at Shaowu, Fujian. He is now a professor at the Department of Literature and Media, the Director of the Chongqing Institute of Primary Education Development in Rural Areas, and the leader of the “Research on Primary Education in Western Rural Areas” Innovation Team. He holds concurrent posts as a member of the Teacher Education Branch, China Association of Higher Education; a member of the Primary School Education Branch, China Association of Higher Education; and the Vice Chairman of the Chongqing Society for Middle School Chinese Education. In 1981, he graduated from the Higher Pedagogical Chinese Class of Chongqing University of Education. In 1983, he studied Literature of Tang and Song at Southwest China Normal University. In 1986, he graduated from Sichuan College of Education. In 2006, he was promoted to a professor. Now he is a third-level professor. ]

Professor Lin has long been engaged in the teaching research on ancient Chinese literature and culture. He mainly teaches such courses as “Pre-Qin Literature”, “Prose History of Ancient China” and “History of Chinese Culture”. In recent years, he has been working on the research on primary education and rural education. He presided over and completed one National Social Science Foundation Project (Strategic Research on the Coordinated Development between the “Solving of Two Basic Problems” and the Cultural Construction in Western Rural Areas), researched one Key Subject on the “10th Five-Year Plan” of the Planning Office of National Education Science (Research on the Implementation Difficulty and Countermeasures of Curriculum Reform of Primary Education in Western Rural Areas) and two National Social Science Foundation Projects (Sociological Research on the Education Issue of Left-behind Children in West China; Sociological Research on the Educational Fairness in Western Rural Areas) as the leading researcher, and presided over one Social Science Research Project of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. He has published over 30 papers in such magazines as Exploring Education Development, Theory and Practice of Education, Probe, Adult Education, Contemporary Education Sciences, Primary and Secondary School Management and Chinese Language Construction, and has 4 published books (co-author or participation in editing). His published works have amounted to over 300,000 characters.

The “Research and Practice on Backbone Teachers in Primary & Secondary Schools under the Background of Curriculum Reform of Primary Education” presided by him was awarded the Second Prize for the Third College Teaching Achievement Award by the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government. Two of his research achievements (as the leading researcher), i.e., Nonintellectual Factors and Chinese Language Learning (co-author, second author) and They Lose at the Starting Line (second author), were both awarded the Third Prize for the Achievement Award in Social Sciences by the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government. Psychology of Chinese Language Teaching in Primary Schools (co-author, second author) is a textbook recommended by the Ministry of Education and has been awarded the Second Prize for the Third Excellent Primary Education Works Award by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. Moreover, his research achievement “Research on the Implementation Difficulty and Countermeasures of Curriculum Reform of Primary Education in Western Rural Areas” won the First Prize for Education & Scientific Research in Chongqing Universities and Colleges.
