The Tourism Management Program has a history of more than 20 years. In 2013, it was rated as a "distinctive bachelor's degree program" by CMEC. With the support of projects jointly funded by the central and local governments and university-level key discipline platforms and other platforms, the program has established the largest tourism training center for undergraduate students in Chongqing and more than 50 school-enterprise cooperation training bases of different tourism sectors such as travel agencies, hotels, exhibition companies, and civil airlines.
The program of Tourism Managementis enrolled in a major category ofTourism Management. During the first year, students sign up for fundamental courses according to the curriculum. At the end of the first year, students choose to study the courses from either Tourism Management, Hotel Management, or Exhibition Economy and Management. In 2021, the program is open to international students from African or Asian countries.
The program is characterized by school-enterprise joint training. It is developed with the ideas of setting up a program with the needs of the job market, designing a curriculum that fosters students' professional abilities, matching the ability training with the job requirements, and coordinating the development of the program and companies in a win-win way. With the faculty team consisting of backbone teachers，double-titled teachers, enterprise executives, and industry elites invited from the industry, the program is committed to providing outstanding application-oriented professionals for tourism and related industries in Chongqing and Western China. By July 2021, students of the program have won more than 200 honors at all levels in tourism competitions at or above the provincial and ministerial level, and their achievements are the best among the college students of the same or similar majors in Western China. Over the years, graduates have engaged in relevant work in various enterprises and institutions including tourism bureaus, travel agencies, hotels, airlines, and exhibition companies, and have been highly recognized by the industry.
