Electronic Information is built on the discipline of Computer Science and Technology which is selected as a provincial key discipline in 2018. Computer Science and Technology at CQUE has been rated as the first-class major by the MOE. The School of Mathematics and Information Engineering has been approved by the CMEC to build a new-style university department and has been named as Chongqing Model Software Academy with Distinction. The academic pacesetter of the discipline is Professor Wei Pengcheng who is also a doctor and a master supervisor in Software and Theory of Computer. He is a Candidate for Pacesetter in Academic Science in Chongqing, and a Chongqing Young Backbone Teacher of Higher Education. There are currently 22 faculty members specializing in this discipline, including 10 professors and 6 associate professors. Among them, there are 13 doctoral degree holders and5 doctoral candidates; there are 15 industry researchers, including two professor-level engineers and nine senior engineers; there are also two master supervisors, a candidate for Pacesetter in Academic Science in Chongqing, three Chongqing Backbone Teachers, and four members funded by Chongqing Excellent Talents Support Program. Under the background of the establishment of new engineering disciplines and the "Double First-Class" initiative, the school has set up three professional degree directions, namely Big Data Technology and Application in Education, Machine Intelligence and Intelligent Computing, Edge Computing and Security Technology. The school mainly focuses its research on big data analysis, especially on artificial intelligence, big data, Internet of things, information security, neural networks, etc. and has successively invested 30 million yuan in building research or training platforms at the provincial level and above, including Chongqing Engineering Laboratory of Children's Big Data Experimental Center for Internet of Things, and ICT Innovation Base for Integration of Production and Education, Data China Application innovation Base Research Platform. The school has built a big data processing center with 500 servers, a computing capacity of 5,000 cores and PB-level storage capabilities. The processing center has reached the advanced level of the computing industry, capable of providing hardware support for personnel training, social services and transforming of scientific and technological achievements. In recent years, the faculty have conducted 41 scientific research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level. They have published 127 academic papers on core journals, including 36 SCI papers and four EI papers, and have published 13 books. They have completed over 20 application development and technical service projects commissioned by the industry with a total of four million yuan as project funding. They have 12 invention patents and 66 utility model patents.
