Journalism and Communication

Journalism and Communication is one of the professional degree disciplines selected by CQUE to be supported in the “14th Five-Year Plan”, and Chinese Language and Literature program has been rated as a distinctive program by CMEC. The academic pacesetter of the discipline is Professor Yan Ya, Ph.D. He is a think tank expert of Chongqing's Universities and Colleges and vice chairman of Chongqing Literature and Art Critics Association. There are currently 23 faculty members, including 6 professors, 9 associate professors, and 9 doctoral degree holders. Members with industry experiences account for 55% of the faculty. There are three professional degree directions: Integrated Media Communication, of which the main research areas are planning and development of integrated media content, analysis and visualization of media big data, fashion culture and creativity, etc.; Bayu Culture Communication, of which the main research area are the dissemination of the cultural legacy of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in Chongqing, the dissemination of Bayu traditional culture and the dissemination of Chongqing ethnic culture, etc. The school is building the Institute of Integrated Media Communication and Social Development which is a university-level research platform. The school integrates education with production, and has built close connection with the industry through cooperation with the MOE National Center for Schooling Development, Phoenix TV, Propaganda Department of Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, Chongqing Legal Newspaper Office, Idea pool Big Data, some local integrated media centers, Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Commission, and many other organizations and companies. In recent years, the faculty have conducted two projects funded by the National Social Science Fund and 27 research projects at provincial and ministerial levels. They have published 19 books and over 20 papers in core journals.
