Internet of Things Engineering Program

Founded in 2013, the program of Internet of Things (IoT) Engineering is an interdisciplinary discipline with strong application and practicality. The program of IoT Engineering is oriented to the talent demand of intelligent industry construction, focusing on the new economy represented by IoT, mobile Internet, and intelligence, and cultivating "five talents" who can follow the technology, explain the process, undertake the project, endure loneliness and integrate into the team.

The program of IoT Engineering offers professional courses such as computer network, sensor principle and application, RFID principle and application, operating system, and computer composition principle. 70% of the teachers of professional courses have overseas visiting or working experience in enterprises, and compose a dual-teacher team with both academic and engineering research and development capabilities. There are 2 professors, 3 senior engineers, 1 senior experimentalist, 6 associate professors, and 5 lecturers. The program of IoT Engineering now has circuited lab, microcontroller lab, embedded lab, wireless sensor network lab, virtual reality lab, "Smart+" lab, intelligent monitoring, and other special labs, forming a complete IoT comprehensive practice from sensor, embedded system, wireless transmission to system integration and system operation and maintenance system.

Based on the "ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Project" of the Planning and Construction Center of the Ministry of Education, the IoT Engineering Program carries out industry-education integration with ZTE Corporation and jointly builds the "ZTE Information College". The first enrollment of the IoT engineering major (ZTE cooperation class) was made in September 2016. The program implements the teaching mode of "enterprise leading, school main body, teachers and students’ participation, and on-campus implementation", and takes mobile Internet as the entry point, mainly cultivating high-quality application-oriented talents with application development ability in the field of IoT.

After four years of study, graduates will have the engineering technology foundation and professional knowledge in computer technology, perception technology, engineering technical foundation and professional knowledge in information fields such as communication technology, with the ability of sustainable development and innovative application capabilities, and are able to use advanced engineering methods and tools in IoT-related applications from the research, development, integration, application, and management of IoT perception and control, embedded system development, communication networks, software and information services. They are capable of research, development, integration, application, and management of IoT-related applications.
