Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Program

Mathematics and Applied Mathematics is one of the earliest programs in CQUE. As a major category for mathematics programs, it is concerned with the understanding and application of basic theories and fundamental methods of mathematical science and the exercise of the ability to solve practical problems. It is characterized by the combination of science and technology, with equal emphasis on basic knowledge, application, and interdisciplinary studies. Based on the advantages of the School, it focuses on training students' ability to apply mathematical theories and methods to solve practical problems and make software. This program closely follows the orientation and characteristics of CQUE and enrolls full-time undergraduate students.

The School of Mathematics and Information Engineering, where the major is located, is the construction unit of "New School of General Undergraduate Universities" in Chongqing. The program has built "Chongqing Engineering Laboratory of Big Data for Children", "Chongqing Engineering Technology Research Center of Interactive Electronic Education" and "Research Team of Key Technology of Big Data Analysis for Children's Education and its Application ". The research platforms are connected to the education industry, providing a platform for the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, as well as a high-quality shared platform for students' learning, practice, and research.

After years of construction, the program has a good development foundation and momentum. Students have won 27 national awards and 36 municipal awards in high-level competitions such as the American Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, National Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, National University Mathematical Competition, and Data Mining Competition, among which there is one Grand Prize in the National Teddy Cup Data Mining Challenge. The program closely follows the needs of the industry and enterprises, connects with the local economic development and serves the local construction in Chongqing, and cultivates "four-competent" talents who can analyze problems, build models, utilize applications and establish themselves in their industry.
