Fine Art Program

History and Faculty

In 1992, Fine Art Degree Program was established. In 1999, the Bachelor's Degree Fine Art Program (for adults) was established. In 2011, the Bachelor's Degree Program in Fine Art started to apply for and was approved by MOE to enroll students in 2012. The Art is a traditional program at the CQUE, with a qualified faculty, with senior titles accounting for 80% of the staff. In 2019, several members were awarded the"National Basic Skill Display of Art Education Teachers in General Institutes of Higher Education" hosted by the MOE Department of Sports, Health, and Art.

The program of Fine Art has the longest history at the CQUE. Adhering to the educational objectives of "taking root in Chongqing's primary education and serving teachers' professional development", the faculty of which have long undertaken projects such as National Compulsory Education Project in Underprivileged Areas, Training Project for Art Backbone Teachers in Rural Middle Schools in Central and Western China, Training Project for Art Backbone Teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools in Chongqing, Chongqing Basic Skill Competition for Art Teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools and Correspondence Courses for Art Teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools. They have accumulated rich experience pre-service training and post-service training of art teachers, and have made important contributions to the education of art teachers in primary and secondary schools in Chongqing.

The program has two university-level offline courses, namelyPhotographic Realistic Painting andMeticulous Figure Painting. The Fine Art Program emphasizes teaching practicability and effectiveness. The curriculum of the program is composed of three modules: fundamental discipline courses, core professional courses, and classified development courses. It has constructed a talent training mode of "major + expertise" which aims at strengthening students' basic professional abilities and pays attention to the effectiveness of the core courses. At the same time, in adherence with the needs of applied talents, the program takes teacher preparation courses as its career development courses, which gives students wider opportunities to find a job or start their own business and strengthens their ability to serve society. In terms of personality development courses, the program provides courses like Murals, Ceramic Modeling, Sculpture, Art Exhibition Planning, and Image Creation which integrates contemporary art concepts into creation, opening up broader prospects for students' employment and development.

Visual Communication Design Program

History and Faculty

The program of Visual Communication Design was founded on the degree program of Decoration Art Design in 1998. In 2004, the CQUE and the Chongqing Normal University started jointly to offer the Bachelor's Degree Program in Art Design. The program is a university-level key program, and its faculty members have been selected into the first batch of Art Design Teaching Teams and Decoration Art Design Teaching Teams in Chongqing. In 2013, the CQUE set up the Visual Communication Design Bachelor's Degree Program, and now it has been selected into the 4th batch of distinctive programs by CMEC.

The program has a strong faculty. Among the 14 faculty members, there are 3 professors and 6 associate professors, with senior academic titles accounting for 69% of the faculty. There are 9 teachers with master's degrees or above, including a doctoral candidate at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. There are two teachers selected as young and middle-aged backbone teachers in Chongqing,another awarded the title of Excellent Female Gardener in Chongqing, and three visiting scholars in Florence, Italy.

The program of Visual Communication Design is oriented to the local economic and social development of Chongqing, adheres to the school running characteristics of the CQUE, emphasizes the school running orientation of training application-oriented talents, and takes service design and new media information interaction as the main research direction. A talent training mode of "integration of art and industry" has been established for the program. The faculty of the program have been selected into the first batch of Art Design Teaching Teams and Decoration Art Design Teaching Teams in Chongqing. In 2013, the CQUE set up the Visual Communication Design Bachelor's Degree Program, and now it has been selected into the 4th batch of distinctive programs by the CMEC. The School has established several practical teaching bases with Yichan Technology, Chang'an Design, Chen Mahua, and other enterprises. Over the past five years, students majoring in this program have participated in National Book Design Art Exhibition, College Student Advertising Art Competition, Chinese College Students Advertising Art Festival Academy Award, Tomorrow Design Grand Prix, Design Star (Future Star), National College Student Graphic Design Exhibition, National College Student Art Exhibition, and other national competitions, and have won more than 80 awards. They have also participated in Chongqing University Student Art Creative Design Competition, Chongqing University Student Art Exhibition, and other provincial and city-level competitions, and have won more than 150 awards

Clothing and Fashion Design Program

History and Faculty

In 2008, the CQUE began to set up the course of Fashion Design in the program of Art Design (a jointly offered bachelor's degree program with Chongqing Normal University) and decided to set the Clothing Design Specialization as students' graduation project. In 2010, the University set up the Clothing Design Degree Program and started to officially enroll students. In 2012, the University was restructured into a university that is permitted to offer bachelor's degree programs and began to enroll students of the Clothing Design Degree Program. In 2017, the Clothing and Fashion Design Bachelor's Degree Program was open for enrollment. The University has been building up a strong faculty. It has invited more than 10 instructors from internationally famous colleges and universities such as Central Saint Martins, Royal College of Art, etc., and top Chinese universities such as Tsinghua University and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. The University has invested 3.8 million yuan to build a multi-functional integrated application experimental platform, which provides students with excellent on-campus training resources. The platform is open to students all day, ensuring students' training needs.

Facts and Honors of the Program

The program of Clothing and Fashion Design was the first newly-built bachelor's degree program in China to be selected into the London International College Student Fashion Week and won international awards. CQUE was the first undergraduate university that showed children's clothing in the China Graduate Fashion Week and was praised by the peer experts and the chairman of the association as "the most distinctive university" during the Fashion Week. Based on the school running orientation of "serving the development of children aged 0-12", and taking "industry-university cooperation, art and industry integration, centering on children's clothing and feathering parent-child clothing" as the development path, the program adheres to the path of staggering development, focuses on the field of children's clothing development, and cooperates with children's clothing camera agencies, famous children's clothing companies, fashion industrial parks, etc. The program emphasizes the development of distinctive curriculum groups, practical training teaching, and learning through competition, and has carried out differentiated and characteristic connotation construction and educational practice, and promotes the deepening development of the training mode. It has become the first Clothing and Fashion Design program in China which focuses on children's clothing and parent-child outfits and has won praise from the industry for its distinctive characteristics.

Public Art Program

History and Faculty

The predecessor of the Public Art Program is the Environmental Art Design Program offered by the CQUE Fine Arts Department. The degree program of Environmental Art Design was set up in 2001. The bachelor's program of Art Design was set up in 2004. The university-level teaching team of Environmental Art Design was established in 2013.With the opportunity of restructuring and upgrading of the CQUE and according to the requirements of the MOE for the adjustment of the undergraduate program catalog of colleges and universities in 2012, the CQUE started to recruit undergraduate students who majored in Public Art in 2015.

This program has a strong faculty team, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 6 lecturers, and 2 teaching assistants. Among them, there is a famous domestic designer and three senior interior architects.

Facts and Honors of the Program

Since theopening of the program, it has highlighted the teaching of innovative practical ability and professional knowledge points and has formed the close combination of art and engineering and the integration of classroom teaching and authentic training. The research interests of the faculty include the inheritance and innovative design of characteristic residential buildings and public space design. The faculty and students have jointly participated in the design and construction of rural revitalization projects such as remolding the Houping Miao Village Homestay in Wulong and Gongtan Homestay in Youyang. They have established an off-campus field practice base with leading enterprises such as Shenzhen Guangtian Group and Chongqing Niandaiyingchuang Interior Design Company. Students are also encouraged to participate in various design competitions to improve their professional abilities. In recent years, students' works have won various competitions at all levels, such as the China Environmental Design Academic Year Award, the Design Art Competition of Colleges And Universities, the National Art Prize for College Students Majoring in Architecture and Environmental Design, the China Environmental Art "Young Designer" Works Biennale, the National Environmental Art Design Biennale, the Painting and Calligraphy Design Art Competition of Chongqing University Students Art Performance, etc.
