I. Disciplinary scope of project application
According to the disciplinary classification of projects supported by National Social Science Foundation, the disciplinary scope includes: Marxism (social science), CPC’s history (CPC building), psychology, theoretical economics, applied economics, politics, sociology, law, international studies, Chinese history, world history, archaeology, ethnical problem study, religious studies, Chinese literature, foreign literature, linguistics, journalism and communication, library (information) and philology, demography, science of physical culture and sports, management, education and art. Other disciplines will be classified into the above ones based on the principle of similarity.
II. Qualification requirements
Applicants meeting qualification requirements for doctor project may only apply for doctor projects; those failing to meet such requirements may apply for cultivation projects.
The principle (host) may only apply for one project and should not participate in any other project application. Members of the project group may participate in application for 2 projects at the most. For application for doctor projects, the degree awarding time will be after January 1, 2015.
For cultivation projects, the responsible person should be below 39 and have medium-grade professional title at least. Members of the project group should all be below 39 (born after September 1, 1976).
Applicants undertaking social science planning projects of Chongqingongoing should not apply for the project.
III. Conditions for project application
The project should be of innovative meaning of basic theoretical research or application measure research and should not be against laws, regulations and related policies and free of any intellectual property rights dispute. It should also meet the academic morality rules. For doctor project and cultivation project, the topics may be selected by the applicant. In particular, the doctor project may involve in-depth study on doctoral thesis that has passed the defense and has profound research foundations. However, the original title of the doctoral thesis may not be used for application. Before application this time, in case the doctoral thesis has obtained subsidy from National Social Science Foundation, Natural Science Foundation of China or the humanities and social science research project approval subsidy granted by the Ministry of Education, it may not be used for application this time. The expected results form will be series papers.
The research period should be no more than 2 years.
IV. Project approval and initiation
Projects meeting the above requirements may be initiated after recommendation of experts and approval of Chongqing Federation of Social Science Circles.
V. Special requirements
In the event the doctor/cultivation program approval subsidy is obtained, similar or related topics should be used in general cases and the application should be submitted for the National Social Science Foundation projects the next year. Otherwise, this project will be terminated without being closed.
VI. Project closing
The project will be closed according to the Management Measures for Social Science Planning Projects of Chongqing.
After the project is approved and initiated, in the event that the related or similar topics obtain subsidy from National Social Science Foundation, Natural Science Foundation of China or the humanities and social science research project approval subsidy granted by the Ministry of Education, the project may be exempted from closing examination.
For projects failing to meet the exemption conditions, 3 papers closely related to the research content should be published. Such projects may be closed after expert testimony.
If the research period exceeds 2 years, the project must be terminated or withdrawn and treated according to the Management Measures for Social Science Planning Projects of Chongqing.
VII. Project application procedures
Applicants should apply on line. Applicants should get registered in the “application system for social science planning projects of Chongqing” (visit website of Chongqing Federation of Social Science Circles http://xmsb.cqskl.com/ and click “planning project management system”). (Applicants who haven’t registered previously should contact the Scientific Research Department to review the registration information. Those who have registered may log in directly). Then fill in the columns for doctor project (or cultivation project) and upload and submit the information.
