On 30 March, school leaders including Secretary MING Guohui and President ZOU Yu visited Faculty of Education of Southwest University to have a meeting with leaders of Faculty of Education of Southwest University including Vice-President JIN Yule. The conference was held by YANG Shangqiu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Faculty of Education of Southwest University.
Faculty Head ZHU Dequan proposed specific advice. The two universities have many cooperation plans such as “two projects, two plans and four developments” and can make full use of their advantages, learn from each other and support each other. For example, build the project of undergraduate education exchange and the project of co-construction of scientific research innovation teams; organize the plan of young and middle-aged teacher visiting and the plan of graduate student training in bases. He thought that the university shall pay attention to positioning, framework, strength and characteristics in order to develop. In addition to preschool education and elementary education, attention shall be paid to vocational education and teacher education to build a subject system with distinctive features.
At the meeting, President JIN delivered a welcome address first and sincerely congratulated our university on the success in changing into a regular college. Then, President JIN introduced that our university had sent investigating teams to investigate in many newly established colleges and universities including Chongqing Three Gorges College, Yangtze Normal University and Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences to learn their experience, reflect on our direction of school running and build a preliminary framework based on preschool education and elementary education, thus developing a school-running orientation different from that of other normal universities and colleges. He hoped that experts can provide guidance and assistance for the development of the university.
President JIN fully affirmed our orientation. He pointed out that the university was facing two realistic conversions, i.e, conversion from junior college to regular university and conversion from adult education to general education, and the potential conversion from normal school to non-normal school. For the future school running, the relations among these conversions shall be properly handled and important issues such as educational philosophy and the school running direction shall be considered, so as to realize the characteristic and connotative development. Under this background, the two universities carried out the university-faculty cooperation to realize “our school-based development; interaction and cooperation; joint development; win-win situation”.
Vice-President WAN Mingchun said that the university had begun to adjust majors and 3 to 4 majors relating to preschool education and elementary education had been set up. Also, the College of Teacher Education was under construction. He hoped that Chongqing University of Education can provide guidance on discipline construction to promote the cooperation on free normal student training.
Other leaders and experts attending the meeting also make speeches. At the meeting , all attendees agreed that the strategic cooperation between Chongqing University of Education and Faculty of Education of Southwest University was highly effective and the cooperation shall continue. The exchange of both parties’ school running ideas derived meaningful cooperation advice. Next, it’s planned to build the collaborative innovation platform of “Training Center for Free Normal Master of Education of Southwest University” to further the development of essential cooperation.
