On 5 November, the university held the “First Round-Table Conference on Strategic Cooperation Between Chongqing University of Education and Faculty of Education of Southwest University” in Meeting Room 412 of the administration building. Leaders of the university including Secretary MING Guohui and President ZOU Yu had a close meeting with leaders of Faculty of Education of Southwest University including Vice-President JIN Yule. The meeting was hosted by Vice-President WAN Mingchun of our university.
First, Secretary MING welcomed leaders of Faculty of Education of Southwest University and briefly introduced the situation of school reconstruction. Then, President ZOU awarded the letter of appointment to Vice-President JIN Yule and Faculty Head ZHU Dequan to appoint them as strategic development consultants of the university. Meanwhile, President ZOU accepted the letter of appointment issued by President JIN; President ZOU was appointed as the doctoral supervisor of Faculty of Education of Southwest University.
President ZOU mentioned that many cadres of our university graduated from Southwest University, so our university was in close connection with Southwest University. He asked Presidents JIN and Faculty Head ZHU to give guidance and assistance on the development of our university during the “Five-Year Plan”. It’s an honor for him and the university that he’s appointed as the doctoral supervisor. He should also undertake heavy responsibility.
Then, the two consultants expressed their opinions. President JIN held that the university should focus on the development and construction of education subjects like teacher education and preschool education and should promote work in all areas by drawing upon the experience gained on key points to realize the comprehensive development of the university. Faculty Head ZHU proposed specific advice. He said that the university should develop into a applied normal university with distinctive characteristics; priorities shall be given to four aspects namely preschool education, elementary education, intellectual education and teacher education; it would be better to build four secondary schools.
